Highland Village City Council adopted its fiscal year 2019-20 budget and a property tax rate of $0.56302 per $100 in assessed valuation.
The budget, adopted Sept. 24, accounts for $18.3 million in expenditures and includes a $424,986 supplemental budget.
According to the city's budget presentation, the city will receive $70,619 in taxes from new property added to the tax roll this year. Overall, Highland Village's assessed property valuations increased this year by 3.9%.
The budget increases the city's spending on personnel by $655,854, or 5.2%, from FY 2018-19. According to the budget presentation, $376,025 of that increase will be dedicated to an overall 4% performance-based salary increase for city employees. Personnel costs make up 70% of city expenditures.
Funds for a new police vehicle, a message board and two replacement vehicles for the parks and recreation department are earmarked in the budget as well. The full budget can be viewed
