Colleyville City Council met July 16 and authorized staff to award two construction contracts to different companies for work at and around City Hall.
Nu-Way Construction will be widening part of Terra Cotta Way from a 10-foot-wide, one-lane road to a 24-foot, two-way road, according to meeting documents. The road appears on Google Maps as Casa Lane, but it is known to the city as part of Terra Cotta Way. After this project is completed, one-way traffic along the portion of the street adjacent to the south side of City Hall will be reversed, and drivers will be directed eastbound instead of westbound.
The project will not exceed $60,142, according to city documents. The street reconfiguration will help improve traffic since the upcoming
community plaza will prevent regular traffic from passing through another street within the same area.
The second contract—not to exceed $100,675—will be given to Scott Beck Construction to renovate City Hall entry doors so they will comply with the current standards of the Americans with Disabilities Act, according to meeting documents.
Because the entrances were considered ADA-compliant at the time of construction, updates were not needed under the grandfather clause, according to meeting documents. But with the ongoing plaza construction, city staff was directed to update the doors to ensure accessibility for everyone.
