Residents living near the intersection of Stacy and Ridge roads may soon see commercial development in the area.
McKinney Planning and Zoning commissioners approved a request to rezone 5.34 acres of land near the northeast corner of Stacy and Ridge roads during a meeting June 11.
Before construction begins, the rezoning request will be sent to City Council for a vote during the July 2 meeting, Planning and Zoning Chairperson Bill Cox said.
The property was rezoned by commissioners from planned development and regional employment center overlay districts to a neighborhood commercial district.
Neighborhood commercial districts are “typically characterized as small, freestanding building containing one or more businesses,” according to city documents. Business types may include restaurants, retail, medical offices, banks and other services.
Directory of Engineering with Sanchez & Associates Casey Gregory said there are no set uses for the property at this time. Sanchez & Associates will develop the property.
