Denton County is under a mandatory burn ban as of Jan. 30, because of dry conditions leading to an increased threat of wild fires. The ban means there can be no outdoor burning, outdoor hot work (welding, cutting torch operations), and no combustible material use allowed until further notice. Ignoring this mandatory burn ban is a Class C misdemeanor punishable by a fine of up to $500. Denton County is currently classified in a “moderate” drought condition according to the U.S. Drought Monitor Map. The burn ban will remain in place until drought conditions are alleviated. Please note, while the Flower Mound Fire Department does not anticipate the burn ban being in place for an extended period of time, a controlled burn of The Flower Mound will not be conducted until weather conditions allow.
