Collin County Commissioners proposed a fiscal year 2017-18 tax rate of $0.192246 per $100 valuation at today's Commissioner's Court meeting.

The proposed FY 2017-18 tax rate is a 1.6-cent decrease from the current tax rate of $0.208395 per $100 valuation.

The proposed tax rate is made up of a $0.138796 maintenance and operations tax rate and debt service tax rate of $0.05345.

This is the 24th year the county has not increased its tax rate, according to a presentation given at Commissioner's Court.

Commissioners will hold a public hearing on the proposed budget Sept. 18, after which commissioners are expected to adopt the budget and tax rate. The meeting is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. at the Jack Hatchell Administration Building, 2300 Bloomdale Road, McKinney.
