It’s a busy week in Frisco with students heading back to school, city public hearings and the unveiling of the new Ring of Honor at The Star in Frisco. 1. Frisco ISD students head back to school Frisco ISD students return to school on Monday. Convocation for the district’s teachers was held last week, which is the district's annual event to kick off the new school year. 2. Dallas Cowboys unveil Ring of Honor The Dallas Cowboys will officially unveil the Ring of Honor presented by Dr Pepper at The Star in Frisco on Monday. The Ring of Honor is dedicated to former players and coaches who have made outstanding contributions throughout the team’s history. Ring of Honor member who will be recognized include Mel Renfro, Roger Staubach, Tom Landry and Tony Dorsett. Each member who will be recognized will have an individual monument within The Star. 3. Frisco City Council to hold first public hearing on proposed tax rate Frisco City Council will conduct its first public hearing on the proposed tax rate of $0.4466 per $100 property valuation on Tuesday. The proposed tax rate is lower than the current tax rate of $0.45 per $100 property valuation. The public hearing will begin approximately at 6 p.m. at Frisco City Hall, 6101 Frisco Square, in the McCallum room on the fourth floor. City Council will hold a second public hearing on Sept. 5 and will vote on the tax rate during its regular meeting on Sept. 19. 4. Frisco Planning and Zoning Commission hold public hearing on proposed residential tower at The Star The Frisco Planning and Zoning Commission will hold its regular meeting Tuesday. During the meeting, the commission will hold a public hearing for a specific use permit for one residential tower on a 2-acre lot on the southeast corner of Gaylord Parkway and Cowboys Way. The meeting will begin approximately at 6:30 p.m. at Frisco City Hall 6101 Frisco Square, Frisco.
