Commissioners Court voted to reject the invoice payment regarding legal fees associated with Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s prosecution during the May 22 meeting.

County Judge Keith Self said the court voted to challenge the amount of the bills—a $300 per hour fee.

The Fifth District Court of Appeals said during a hearing on May 16 that if the Commissioners Court wanted to challenge paying the fees, they were within their authority to do so.

The commissioners’ vote was the next step in challenging the fees, which are paid with county tax dollars.
