The May 6 election may seem far away to some, but the deadline to register to vote in that election is Thursday, April 6—30 days before election day.

Applications are available at county offices or online at the Texas Secretary of State's website, which can then be mailed to a voter's county of residence.

If you have registered before and have received a voter card but have recently moved or changed your name, you may need to register again.

To vote, residents must be a U.S. citizen, a resident of the county in which he or she submitted the application, be at least 18 years old on election day, not be a convicted felon and must not have been declared by a court either totally mentally incapacitate or partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote.
