The Governmental Affairs Committee of the Frisco Chamber of Commerce will hold a 2017 municipal candidate forum for February’s special election. The forum will take place 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Jan. 24 at Grace Church, 8440 Grace Street, Frisco. The event is free and open to the public. The election will be held on Feb. 18. Early voting begins Feb. 1. The special election will fill the Frisco City Council Place 1 seat, which is up for election again in May 2018. Bob Allen is vacating the seat to run for Frisco mayor. Shona Huffman, director of governmental affairs at the chamber, said the forum is an opportunity for voters to hear from the candidates directly and gain insight as to where the candidates stand on issues important to the future of Frisco. “Voters should seek to know who truly understands the issues and make their decisions at the polls accordingly,” Huffman said. All candidates running for Frisco City Council Place 1 seat have been invited to participate in the forum. Felker and Huffman will moderate the forum. John Keating, Dan Stricklin, Hal Thomas, Damon Vinci, Brandon Burden, Stanley Wang, Stacy Plummer, Khurram Warach and John Redmond have all filed for Place 1.
