At the July 19 Colleyville City Council meeting, council members unanimously approved a $10,000 economic development incentive grant for a new Italian restaurant, Loveria Caffe.
The grant is to be used for exterior improvements and site signage at the restaurant's location in Colleyville Town Center at 5617 Colleyville Blvd., Colleyville.
"I support this," Council member Mike Taylor said. "Patio dining is something that we are big on in Colleyville and [that] is one of the improvements that will be made with this grant."
One of the owners, Colleyville resident Michelle Rawls, said in her business plan that she estimates the restaurant will bring in $14,000 in sales tax revenue for the city in its first year of operation.
Rawls said she intends to create "a full Italian cultural experience, including cooking demonstrations, wine tastings from featured regions, mobile service to community events with a small Vespa-style food truck and the hosting of collective events with other local merchants."
The owners plan to employ four full-time employees and five part-time employees.
As part of the incentive grant agreement, the restaurant must open no later than Dec. 31.
