City Council approved the appointment of James Brandon as chief of police at its June 2 meeting. Brandon has served as interim police chief of Southlake since April 6 and was originally hired by the city in February 2013 as the assistant police chief.
He has 19 years of law enforcement experience in a variety of assignments, including corrections, patrol, an organized crime unit, a bomb squad, SWAT and the Office of Accountability. He has also worked for the city of Corpus Christi and the Illinois Department of Corrections. Brandon has a bachelor’s degree from Midwestern State University and is seeking a master’s from American Military University.
