Each year Earth Day is celebrated on April 22. On this day various events are held worldwide to demonstrate support for environmental protection. There are several events happening in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex the weekend of April 22 to celebrate Earth Day.

Earth Day Texas 2017

The three-day event celebrates progress, hope and innovation, and it is the largest event in the world of its kind. Earth Day Texas brings together environmental organizations, businesses, academic institutions, government agencies, speakers, interactive programming and subject matter experts along with live music and sustainable beer and food pavilions. The event runs from April 21-23. 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Free (admission), special fees apply to select conferences and events. Fair Park, 1300 Robert B. Community e-waste recycling event

Snappy Salads hosts a free e-waste recycling event April 22. Anything with an on/off switch, including computers, cell phones, televisions, lamps, calculators, small appliances and batteries, may be dropped off at the following Snappy Salads locations at the times listed:

Heard Museum: Spring Plant Sale

For more than 20 years, veteran and novice gardeners have chosen plants for North Central Texas gardens at the annual Spring Plant Sale. The sale is held April 22-23. IKEA Sustainable Living Your Way

IKEA in Frisco is celebrating Earth Day on April 22 with workshops, giveaways and activities. Activities include Furniture Take Back, which allows customers to bring used furniture to the store except for mattresses, bedding, children's furniture and lighting.
