Hosted by the Southlake Chamber of Commerce, this free weekend festival offers handcrafted arts and crafts booths, live entertainment, food and beverages, family activities and a dachshund race. 4-11:30 p.m. (Fri.), 9 a.m.-11:30 p.m. (Sat.), 1-5:30 p.m. (Sun.). Oct. 7-9: Fairview Farms Marketplace


Stock up on fall favorites like pumpkins, gourds, hay bales and cornstalks at Fairview Farms Marketplace, 3314 N. Central Expressway, Ste. 100, Plano. The farmer’s market also offers fresh produce and pottery items for sale. Shoppers can also break for lunch or dinner at Cuellar’s Fajita Ranch next door. Oct. 8: Plano Public Safety PULLooza


Join Plano Fire-Rescue, Plano Police and the city’s 9-1-1 dispatch department for the first annual Public Safety PULLooza. Teams will try their hand in a tug-of-war competition involving a 36-ton fire truck to help raise money for Special Olympics Texas. The event also includes children’s activities, hands-only CPR and AED training, a police SWAT demo, food trucks and more. 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Registration starts at 10 a.m. followed by the first pull at 11 a.m. Oak Point Amphitheater parking lot and event field, 2801 E. Spring Creek Parkway, Plano.

Oct. 8: Frisco Arts Walk


Presented by Frisco Arts, the first-ever Frisco Arts Walk takes place at Hall Park from 3-9 p.m. this Saturday. The event will feature interactive art performances by Frisco-based nonprofit arts organizations, a pop-up food truck park, a community stage and a children’s area complete with bounce houses, a petting zoo and hands-on activities. For more information on the free event, visit www.friscoarts.org

Oct. 8: U.S. Ocarina Festival


The city of Allen's fourth annual U.S. Ocarina Festival features more than 20 ocarina virtuosos from the United States and Japan. Oct. 9: "The Hallelujah Girls" presented by McKinney Repertory Theater


Hilarity abounds when the feisty females of Eden Falls, Georgia, decide to shake up their lives.
