Valerie Jones has been named the fourth president of Lone Star College-CyFair and will move into the role June 1, according to a May 6 news release. Jones has served as Lone Star College System’s associate vice chancellor of academic affairs since 2019 and was selected for the LSC-CyFair position following a nationwide search.
“Since arriving at Lone Star College, Dr. Jones has been instrumental in the creation of three bachelor’s degrees,” LSC Chancellor Stephen Head said in a statement. “She also played a key role in several accreditation projects and led the work on our reaccreditation and Quality Enhancement Plan that will focus on improving race, ethnicity and modality equity across the system.”
Jones has been with LSC since 2019. Previously, she served community colleges in North Carolina for 15 years and more recently as vice president for instruction and chief academic officer at Odessa College from 2013-19.
