Ongoing projects



  1. The city of Conroe continues work to expand Wilson Road from two lanes to four lanes between I-45 and Frazier Street, adding sidewalks, curb and gutter improvements, streetlights and an additional traffic signal at Frazier Street. The $4.7 million project is 54 percent complete.
    Estimated timeline: April 16, 2018-Jan. 22, 2019

  2. The Texas Department of Transportation recently started on a project to widen FM 2854 between Loop 336 W. and I-45. The $1.1 million project includes expanding the road from two to four lanes as well as adding a divided curb and gutter, traffic signals and detention ponds. It is 6 percent complete.
    Estimated timeline: Aug. 20, 2018-first quarter 2021

  3. Montgomery County continues work to expand McCaleb Road from Hwy. 105 to the overpass bridge of the BNSF Railway tracks along FM 2854. The $4.39 million project includes expanding the road from two to four lanes and adding a continuous turn lane.
    Estimated timeline: January 2018-February 2019

  4. The city of Conroe and Montgomery County are partnering to build Freedom Boulevard around the Montgomery County Central Library from the I-45 access road to FM 2854. The $1.2 million project will allow visitors to access the future Veterans Memorial Park, and the road will connect to the back of the
    Spirit of Texas Bank. The project is 51 percent complete.

5. Lake Creek bridge expansion
Montgomery County will break ground in November on a two-lane, southbound bridge parallel to Lake Creek bridge on Fish Creek Thoroughfare in Montgomery.
Timeline: November 2018-November 2019

6. FM 3083 expansion
A two-phase TxDOT project will expand FM 3083 and address traffic congestion along the roadway by widening the road from two to four lanes from just east of Hwy. 75 to Loop 336 North. The expansion is 64 percent complete.
Timeline: July 2016-first quarter 2019
Cost: $13.4 million
