Ongoing Projects


1. Construction to repair the Buffalo Springs Drive bridge in Montgomery, which was damaged in the April 2016 flood, will add four inlet drains and substantial dirt and concrete work to support drainage. The roughly $1 million project has been extended from its original completion date of mid-June due to poor weather days, labor issues and slow production.
Estimated timeline: January-Oct. 31

2. A two-phase Texas Department of Transportation project to expand FM 3083 in Conroe from two to four lanes from just east of Hwy. 75 to Loop 336 North is 62 percent complete as of Sept. 5. The project addresses congestion on the roadway. Phase 1, which is building a bridge over the Union Pacific Corp. railroad tracks, went out for bids Aug. 8.
Estimated timeline: July 2016-fourth quarter 2018 (Phase 1)

3. Montgomery County Precinct 2 continues work to expand McCaleb Road from Hwy. 105 to the overpass bridge of the BNSF Railway tracks along FM 2854. The $4.39 million project includes expanding the road from two to four lanes and adding a continuous turn lane.
Estimated timeline: January 2018-February 2019

4. Hwy. 105 improvements
TxDOT’s project to improve Hwy. 105 between I-45 and Hwy. 75 includes adding a raised median, sidewalks and public transit stops. The construction timeline is anticipated to be pushed back due to additional work and design revisions. The project is 78 percent complete.

5. Wilson Road expansion
The city of Conroe continues work to expand Wilson Road from two to four lanes between I-45 and Frazier Street, adding sidewalks, curb and gutter improvements, streetlights and an additional traffic signal at Frazier Street.
Timeline: April 16, 2018-Jan. 22, 2019

6. Grace Crossing Road extension
The city of Conroe continues construction on a project to extend Grace Crossing Road from the north side of FM 1488 to Walter Woodson Drive, the roadway leading to Conroe Fire Department Station No. 4. The project includes creating a two-lane roadway, curbs and gutters, a storm sewer and landscaping. The extension project is 21 percent complete, while the project to install the traffic signal at the intersection of Grace Crossing Road and FM 1488 is 59 percent complete.

7. FM 2854 widening
In August, TxDOT broke ground on a project to widen FM 2854 between the west side of Loop 336 and I-45 in Conroe. The project includes expanding the road from two to four lanes as well as adding curbs and storm sewers, traffic signals, retaining walls and detention ponds.
Timeline: Aug. 20, 2018-first quarter 2021

8. Freedom Boulevard addition
The city of Conroe and Montgomery County partnered to build a connector road, the so-named Freedom Boulevard, from the I-45 access road to FM 2854. Freedom Boulevard will go around the Montgomery County Central Library, and it will allow visitors to access the site of the future Montgomery County Veterans Memorial Park. The project is currently 29 percent complete.
