Montgomery County Commissioners approve extra funding for nonprofits

Because the county does not have a contract with SOS, it will need to authorize Riley to enter into a contract prior to when funds are distributed, according to county officials.

Precinct 1 Commissioner Mike Meador also requested and was approved a transfer from his budget not to exceed $25,000 to each of the following entities: Montgomery County Youth Services, Meals On Wheels Montgomery County, Angel Ministries and the Crisis Assistance Center. Contracts would need to be established for any entity that is not already contracted with the county, officials said.

Precinct 3 Commissioner James Noack, who had previously argued against using taxpayer money to fund certain nonprofits, was not present for the meeting and vote.
