The Montgomery County Historical Commission will dedicate a historical marker to the Montgomery County Hospital during a public ceremony at 9 a.m. Sept. 15, according to a Sept. 10 news release.
Some context
First opened in 1938, it was the region’s first public hospital, according to the release, and received its first addition in 1954 following a statewide polio epidemic. By 1982, the area’s growth meant there was no need for the facility anymore.
Overland Property Group renovated the building between 2023 and 2024 to turn it into a senior living apartment complex named Landmark 301, Community Impact previously reported. The building is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
