Voters reject all 3 propositions in Willis ISD’s $115.4M bond

According to unofficial voting results there are:

• 11,320 votes in favor and 13,395 votes against Proposition A—$27 million for a student activity center
• 10,608 votes for and 13,976 votes against Proposition B—$68.8 million for an athletic complex and stadium with community room
• 10,672 votes for and 13,858 votes against Proposition C—$19.6 million for an aquatic center

Voters continue to oppose Willis ISD's three bond propositions with 81 out of 113 precincts reporting, according to unofficial voting results from Montgomery County.

In a statement, WISD board President Kyle Hoegemeyer said they are disappointed about the likely disapproval of the bond.

“We respect and appreciate the voice of our voters that showed in larger numbers," Hoegemeyer said. "We remain committed to working with all stakeholders to address the ongoing needs of our district in a fiscally responsible manner. Moving forward, we will continue to evaluate and prioritize how we can best serve our students within the existing resources, and we welcome further dialogue on these essential initiatives.”

In a statement, Superintendent Kimberley James said the district's commitment to students, families and staff is unchanged.

“We will work diligently to seek alternative paths to meet the demands of our growing district while staying true to the core values and high standards that define Willis ISD,” James said.

• 9,377 votes in favor and 11,382 votes against Proposition A—$27 million for a student activity center
• 8,763 votes for and 11,873 votes against Proposition B—$68.8 million for an athletic complex and stadium with community room
• 8,830 votes for and 11,770 votes against Proposition C—$19.6 million for an aquatic center

Voters are reconsidering three bond positions totaling $115.4 million for a student activity center, athletic stadium and aquatic center. The three propositions originally failed during the May 4 election, Community Impact previously reported.
