Founded and operated by Michele Marie, Lotus Lounge Yoga & Wellness opened its doors this past April. The yoga practice offers a wide range of training and relaxation workshops, both indoors and outdoors.
Two-minute impact
According to the company’s website, Lotus Lounge Yoga & Wellness offers multiple different training opportunities for beginner and experienced yoga practitioners. Some of these training opportunities include:
- Yoga on the water training
- Trauma-informed and somatic yoga training
- Specialized workshops for facilitators
The yoga on the water courses take place on Lake Conroe, where participants will cycle through various yoga poses on paddleboards overlooking the scenery.
Marie's decision to open Lotus Lounge in Willis came from her work as an advocate for the Veterans Yoga Project and First Responders, Montgomery County Court Appointed Special Advocate, and other advocacy organizations.
“Because of the location right there in Fisherman's Cove, right on Lake Conroe, I was initially drawn to it,” Marie said. “I recently started a nonprofit, the Lotus Haven Holistic Wellness Ranch, which is going to grow and morph into transitional living for young women who have had to unfortunately graduate or launch from foster care, who have been trafficked.”
Marie said that she decided the yoga studio space was as relaxing and comforting as possible—less of a gym and more like a “cozy friend's house that likes to just work out and serve you tea.”
