At Mindgame Tactical, owner David Daniel said engraving or creating a firearm holster is as personalized as creating a prosthesis. Daniel said while most companies have a one-size-fits-all mentality, he wants to provide something that works for each individual.
“I started Mindgame Tactical specifically to provide holsters for guns that you can’t find holsters for [and] make them custom [with] anything you want on them, however you want them made,” Daniel said.
Every time a customer comes in, Daniel said he measures them and walks through whatever they want. Whether making custom holsters or adding cerakote—a ceramic paint added for aesthetics or protection—onto firearms, Daniel said he asks the same questions for each project.
“What are you going to be using the holster for? What are its main purposes? Where are you going to be wearing it?” Daniel said. “We take in all of those considerations and then give them a couple of recommendations based on their price point.”
Daniel wanted to go back to school for prosthetics and orthotics, but found if he designed those patents they would be retained by another company, so he created Mindgame Tactical.
Before he opened his storefront in December 2018, Daniel was working out of his garage. But when local gun ranges and companies started referring customers to him, he said he was able to move into his new place where he can help people every day.
Coming up on the one-year anniversary for the brick-and-mortar shop, Daniel said he is looking to move to a larger facility where he can offer more specialized services and can carry his own patented designs including combat belts and holster hangers.
Although the Second Amendment is a hot political topic today, Daniel said providing safe firearm holsters and customization is a universally necessary service.
“Giving people an apparatus to be able to safely carry their firearm and lead their lives according to the Constitution, that’s what we do,” Daniel said.
