According to a Comal County press release, July 1 will be the final day county residents can pay delinquent property taxes from the 2018 tax year before additional fees will be assessed.
Beyond the July 1 deadline, delinquent property taxes will be transferred to the county collections attorney and will incur an additional 15% attorney’s fee.
Property owners utilizing a homestead exemption and delinquent on their 2018 taxes can set up a payment plan before the end of business hours July 1, according to Comal County Tax Assessor Cathy Talcott.
The Comal County Tax Office initially mailed tax statements in support of 19 taxing entities during October. Reminders were sent in March and May.
Unpaid tax balances were first assessed penalties and interest fees beginning Jan. 31. The tax office has collected some 97.5% of the 2018 levy as of May 31.
Payments to the Comal County Tax Office can be made online at www.comalcountytaxoffice.net, by mail if postmarked prior to June 30, and in person at multiple county tax office locations in New Braunfels, Bulverde or Sattler.
The Comal County Tax Office accepts cash, check, cashier’s check, money order and credit cards as forms of payment.
