TxDOT plans Oltorf bridge, northbound I-35 lane closures overnight March 11

The Texas Department of Transportation will close the northbound lanes of I-35 at Oltorf Street as well as the Oltorf bridge the night of March 11.

The closure will allow for crews to install a new overhead sign on the bridge. Drivers can expect the closures to occur from 9 p.m. March 11 through 5 a.m. March 12 on the bridge and from 11 p.m. March 11 through 5 a.m. March 12 on northbound I-35.

Drivers may avoid the closures by detouring to the northbound I-35 frontage road and re-entering I-35 north of Oltorf. Drivers may also use bridges at Woodland Avenue and Woodward Street to cross I-35.

Since February, TxDOT has been replacing a section of the center median and installing signs and lighting for the ongoing project at Oltorf, which officials said should be completed this summer.

The project constructed a new Oltorf bridge over the highway as well as new elevated ramps onto I-35. The project also reworked frontage roads and I-35 main lanes in the area.

The $42.6 million project began in February 2017 and is being funded by the Texas Clear Lanes Congestion Relief Fund.
