Routine Capital Metro service changes to UT routes planned for the summer

Capital Metro’s board of directors approved routine service changes that will affect its University of Texas routes during the board’s meeting May 22.

Lawrence Deeter, CapMetro’s manager of system development, said regular service changes occur every winter, spring and fall to coincide with local academic calendars. The UT shuttles are open to the general public, but all nonstudents, faculty or staff pay a local fare.

Effective June 4, CapMetro will transition its University of Texas routes to “summer service levels,” which include:

• Buses will depart approximately every 15 to 40 minutes on all routes from 6:45 a.m.-7 p.m.
• From 7-11 p.m., buses will depart approximately every 40 minutes.

Beginning in August, UT routes will transition back to fall service levels, which include:

• Buses will depart every five to 18 minutes on all routes from approximately 7 a.m.-7 p.m. (check schedules for individual route times).
• After 7 p.m., buses will depart approximately every 20 to 40 minutes.
• Departure times after 7 p.m. will be posted at major stops.

Throughout the summer and into fall, MetroRail will maintain its regular service while MetroExpress and Flyers continue with reduced service levels and E-Bus services remain suspended.

Looking ahead, Deeter said the next major service change is planned for 2025 when the new Expo MetroRapid and Pleasant Valley service lines are set to begin.
