Even with the sun lingering until nearly 8 p.m. and temperatures still hovering around 90 degrees, fall festivities are already in full swing. Here are nine Cedar Park-area events to check out throughout September and early October.
All events are subject to change. This list is not comprehensive.
Messy Makerspace
Get creative and make a cuckoo clock during this hands-on program at the library. Participants will explore, learn and build new skills while creating their own clock to take home. The program is for ages 5 and older, and adult supervision is required for children younger than 8. A Full Access Library Card is required to register, but walk-ins are welcome as space allows.
Oktoberfest, baby goats and brews at Whitestone Brewery
Whitestone Brewery will host an Oktoberfest celebration where guests can drink beer and interact with baby goats. Each adult ticket includes one beer with discounted refills and unlimited soda for each kids’ ticket.
Mommy & Me Barre
Mama Barre will host a Mommy & Me fitness class, offering a welcoming space for moms to move, bring their little ones and connect with other mothers. The class—which features a low-impact workout that combines ballet-inspired movements with elements of Pilates, strength training and stretching—is open to all fitness levels and will take place on La Dosis’ covered, fan-cooled patio. Participants can also enjoy 15% off at La Dosis after class.
Cedar Parktoberfest
The Cedar Park Parks and Recreation Department invites the community to celebrate Bavarian culture at this lively festival featuring traditional German food and beer, live music, carnival rides and a stein-hoisting competition. Enjoy performances by Yodel Blitz and the Brushy Creek Brass Band, along with activities for the whole family.
Nirvani, Nirvana tribute band
Nirvana tribute band, Nirvani, takes the stage at Haute Spot this month, bringing “the music of Nirvana to life in a way that feels as powerful and visceral as it did in the 90s,” according to the band’s website.
21st Annual Bluegrass & Folk Festival
The Leander Parks & Recreation Department will host the 21st annual Bluegrass & Folk Festival at the Mason Homestead. The free festival features live music from five bands, food vendors, a fun zone and other family-friendly activities. Friendly, leashed pets are welcome. The music lineup includes Midnight Grass, Cooper's Uncle, Strawberry Flats, Bobby Giles & Texas Gales Band and Hot Pickin' 57s.
The Zoomies, 5K Run
The inaugural fun run, hosted by Firehouse Animal Health Centers, invites runners, walkers and families to enjoy a scenic course at Brushy Creek Lake Park. Participants can bring their well-behaved, leashed dogs and support Texas Humane Heroes, a Leander-based animal shelter, with proceeds benefiting veterinary services and medical care for shelter pets in need. Registration ends Sept. 30.
Texas Pumpkin Fest
The pumpkin fest returns to Leander for a fall celebration featuring a massive pumpkin patch, carnival rides, live entertainment, family-friendly games, photo opportunities and more. The festival also includes professional wrestling, magic shows, train and pony rides, a petting zoo, costume contests and pumpkin pie-eating contests. Each child receives a free mini pumpkin with admission.
Barktoberfest festival
The 24th annual Bartoberfest, hosted by the Central Texas Tails of Hope, will include a one-mile walk, kid and dog costume contests, a silent auction and a variety of food vendors. Proceeds from the event will go directly to the organization.
