Q&A: Meet the candidates for Leander ISD Place 2

What motivated you to run for this position?

I was impacted by the risk of school closure, which can devastate neighborhoods, students, and faculty. Many older elementary schools in LISD are smaller than the new schools and have well-established communities. I am running to increase visibility of this issue and to prevent school closures.

If elected, what will be your top priorities to address district challenges?

I want to secure district financial planning to (1) prevent school closures and (2) prevent other cuts that would greatly compromise district quality. If elected, I would reach out to other officials about the need to repair funding shortfalls. In general, my focus is on excellence for K-12.

If elected, what new district projects or policies would you like to see implemented?

I would like to stop the threat of school closures. Most school closures would save very little money (if any), degrade district quality by overcrowding schools into portable buildings, and potentially result in a net loss of Leander ISD student population and, therefore, a net loss in district funds.

What motivated you to run for this position?

As I run into my former LISD students, I’m reminded that every child deserves the American Dream. My husband and I are very proud parents of LISD graduates. Our 3 children are now University of Texas Longhorns. I’m ready to continue serving the students of LISD, their families, and staff.

If elected, what will be your top priorities to address district challenges?

PARENTS, STUDENTS, TEACHERS. The LISD Police Department is currently under investigation, we can return to collaborating with our local law enforcement within the LISD 200 sq mile corridor and curb much more fraud, waste and abuse that does not directly impact student learning and teacher retention. We must LOWER TAXES!

If elected, what new district projects or policies would you like to see implemented?

An avid STEAM supporter, I’m for Orchestra Programs at secondary schools throughout LISD. Parents are Partners in Education; I’ll strongly support overturning the 2021 Clear-Bag and policy which limits the parent voice at school board meetings to ONLY 90 Seconds. I’ll continue advocating for Public Education at the TX Capitol.

What motivated you to run for this position?

As a dedicated LISD mom, I’ve evaluated math and phonics on the Curriculum Committee, volunteered regularly across campuses, and supported local band, youth robotics, and Science Olympiad. Education changed my life. I’m running to pay it forward so every student receives those same robust, life-changing academic opportunities.

If elected, what will be your top priorities to address district challenges?

My priorities are supporting all students through early intervention, SPED, bilingual, and advanced academic programs; balancing uneven enrollment across feeder patterns; protecting classroom funding for student outcomes; smart budgeting through strategic, long-term planning and advocating for mandate-matched state funding; and restoring public trust through transparent, two-way communication.

If elected, what new district projects or policies would you like to see implemented?

I’ll advocate for expanding practical business, hands-on trade, and entrepreneurship programs that cultivate critical, analytical thinking across all grade levels. To support educators, I’ll champion workforce housing partnerships and reduced administrative workloads, while establishing open community forums and collaborative advisory groups to rebuild trust through transparent, two-way communication
