From new development and entertainment options to major city projects and new businesses, September brought plenty of changes to Cedar Park. Here are five of the stories that drew the most attention and will have an impact on the city in the months ahead.
Event center slated for site of old pharmacy at Parmer and Whitestone
An unoccupied building at the corner of Parmer Lane and Whitestone Boulevard in Cedar Park will be converted into an event center. The 12,000-square-foot venue, to be known as the RIA Event Center, will make use of a restored and renovated pharmacy building.
297-room Cedar Park Marriott Hotel and Conference Center to open in spring 2027
The new Marriott Hotel and Conference Center next door to NFM and Scheels in north Cedar Park is set to open in April. The hotel, which will be located in the new CedarView development, will have 297 rooms.
The conference center will total 30,000 square feet and will feature a variety of meeting rooms and ballrooms, the largest of which is almost 10,000 square feet.
Cedar Park to build wave pool in $10 million Veterans Memorial Pool expansion
A more than $10 million expansion project at Veterans Memorial Pool is set to be completed in the fall of 2027 after Cedar Park City Council approved a construction contract Sept. 10. The project is centered on a planned 8,000-square-foot wave pool and will also include a 5,000-square-foot building that will house a stage overlooking the pool, restrooms, and filtration and wave equipment, city documents state.

Cedar Park to install 5 new stoplights
Cedar Park drivers can expect to see five new stoplights at intersections around the city after Cedar Park City Council approved a $1.7 million construction contract Aug. 27. The traffic signals will be located at:
Paris Baguette will open its first Cedar Park location, according to project filings with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. The international bakery offers baked goods like cakes, croissants, tarts and danishes. Beyond pastries, Paris Baguette serves a variety of coffee drinks, teas and smoothies.
