Cedar Park drivers can expect to see five new stoplights at intersections around the city after Cedar Park City Council approved a $1.7 million construction contract Aug. 27.

The traffic signals will be located at:
Brushy Creek Road and Wilson Ranch Place
Brushy Creek Road and Ranch Trails
New Hope Drive and Arrow Point Drive
Cottonwood Creek Trail and Medical Parkway
Cypress Creek Road and Cluck Creek Trail
City staff has determined that each of the five intersections meets the criteria for installation of traffic signals set out in the Texas Department of Transportation’s Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, city documents state.
The stoplights will be built by Traffic Control Devices, LLC.
The funding sources
Funding for the stoplights comes from three different sources.
Both signals on Brushy Creek Road will be funded by the Cedar Park Community Development Type B Board, a city board that allocates sales tax revenue to transportation and community development projects, city documents state.
The signals on New Hope Drive and Cottonwood Creek Trail are funded by the 2022 bond program and the signal on Cypress Creek Road is funded by a budget amendment approved by City Council earlier this year.

“I’m really super excited about the two signals coming on Brushy Creek Road,” council member Shweta Padmanabha said. “That’s a big pain point there not having those traffic signals, and that coming into the picture [is] a savior.”
What’s next
Construction on all five signals is set to begin soon and will take about nine months, with completion expected in late spring to early summer 2027, Assistant Director of Public Works Stephen Hanuscin said.
