Note: This story has been updated to show that Grace Barber-Jordan will not run for reelection.
Pam Waggoner and Grace Barber-Jordan—the two most experienced Leander ISD trustees on the seven-member board—will not run for re-election in the Nov. 3 election.
Waggoner’s at-large Place 3 seat will be on the Nov. 3 ballot, as will the Place 4 seat, held by Barber-Jordan, and the Place 5 seat, held by Jim MacKay.
After hinting at previous meetings that she would not run again, both made it official during July trustees meetings. Waggoner announced her plans at the trustees’ July 16 meeting. She gave a simple reason.
“I said four years ago when I ran that I would not run again,” she said.
At the July 23 meeting, Barber-Jordan said she would not run again, but did not cite a reason.
MacKay has said he plans to run for reelection.
Waggoner first served on the board from 2002-08. She returned to the board in 2010, serving as president from 2012-15 and 2017-18 and vice president from 2015-17.
