Smokey Mo’s BBQ charity supplies 425 meals to Cedar Park Regional Medical Center staff

Smokey Mo’s BBQ charity, Mo’Nation Donation, provided 425 meals to Cedar Park Regional Medical Center staff May 5.

According to a news release, 350 meals were delivered to the day staff, while 75 were given to the night staff.

“Thank you. ... It will truly make their day,” said Laura Balla, Cedar Park Regional Medical Center’s spokesperson, in an email.

The meals were funded through donations provided to Mo’Nation Donation, a program that allows online donors to sponsor meals for workers impacted the most by coronavirus. The program began in April, according to the release.

Anyone interested in donating may go online to www.smokeymosbbq.com and choose the number of meals they would like to sponsor. The meals cost $9.50 each.

“This really is a gift from the people of Austin who contributed, sometimes one meal at a time, to our Mo’Nation Donation campaign,” Smokey Mo’s President Jim Oetting said.

The first Smokey Mo’s BBQ opened in Cedar Park 20 years ago, according to the release, and has grown to 16 from Georgetown to San Antonio and Boerne to Conroe.
