Southwest Williamson County Regional Park gets lighting improvements

Though the total cost savings is yet to be determined, the new low-wattage light fixtures are estimated to save 55% in energy usage, which in turn will lower the overall usage bill for park maintenance, Williamson County Parks Director Russell Fishbeck said.

The light fixtures also reduce light pollution, Fishbeck said.

"So more targeted light and less energy consumption is the real takeaway message," Fishbeck said. "We've had several user groups compliment on how much better the lighting is on the fields and the courts. So we're already seeing a positive public feedback from the project. Then couple that with the energy savings, I think it's a win-win."

Southwest Williamson County Regional Park homes 11 soccer fields; two softball fields; a football field; and stadium with a 400-meter track, eight tennis courts, six basketball courts and a cricket field. The park also includes a network of hike and bike trails as well as the Cedar Rock Railroad miniature train.
