Movie theater company Cinepolis announced July 26 it acquired Moviehouse & Eatery for an undisclosed amount, according to a news release. Moviehouse & Eatery is a dine-in movie theater concept with five locations in Austin and Dallas. Another theater is under construction in Houston. The company’s locations include theaters in Flower Mound, Keller and McKinney. With its purchase of Moviehouse & Eatery, Cinepolis will operate 26 theaters across seven states in the U.S. Globally, it operates 738 theaters in 17 countries. "We are fully committed to bringing our global expertise to the U.S. market,” Cinepolis CEO Alejandro Ramirez Magana said in the release. “This is a strategic transaction that will help us expand and strengthen our best-in-class luxury offering in this market and around the world." Moviehouse & Eatery co-founders Leslie Sloan and Rodney Speaks plan to help Cinepolis expand its footprint across the U.S., according to the release. “Cinepolis shares the same high standards that we maintain at Moviehouse & Eatery and it is the perfect company to take Moviehouse to the next level,” Sloan said in the release. “We are excited that Cinepolis will expand the Moviehouse experience to people all across the country." According to the release, Cinepolis does not have immediate plans to make any operational changes to Moviehouse & Eatery. Moviehouse & Eatery will continue to operate independently and keep all of its employees, programs and special events.
