August allocations of monthly sales tax revenue totaled $779.2 million across the state, according to a release from the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts. The allocations are based on sales made in June by businesses that report tax monthly, and sales made April-June by businesses that file quarterly.

The top cities by net payment during this period and payment year-to-date included Houston, San Antonio, Dallas and Austin, respectively.

Among DFW-area cities, those with the highest payments year-to-date included Dallas (proper), Fort Worth, Arlington, Plano and Frisco. The sales tax rate, represented by color, did not have an effect on rankings.

When combining the DFW area, net payments for this period and payments year-to-date increased.

Throughout the state, August allocations increased 0.4 percent for cities and 8.6 percent for counties. The Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts releases this data on a monthly basis.
