Bryan ISD continues budget discussions with improved financial outlook
Bryan ISD officials said the district is on track to finish the current school year in stronger financial shape than expected, even as declining enrollment and uncertain state funding continue to shape planning for next year’s budget.
Chief Financial Officer Norma Friddle presented trustees with an overview of both the current budget and early projections for the 2026-27 fiscal year during a May 11 special board meeting.

Family-owned paleteria expands with Bryan location
Helados La Azteca, a Waco-based Hispanic family-owned paleteria known for its traditional Mexican ice cream and snacks, will soon open a new location in Bryan.
The shop will be located in a space previously long-occupied by Direct Auto Insurance. It joins the company's existing four locations across Central Texas.
