Bryan City Council approved an agreement Sept. 15 extending the management contract for Legends Event Center through 2032 and bringing Travis Fields under the same management agreement.
The agreement with Sports Facilities Management, also known as Sports Facilities Companies, or SFC, takes effect Oct. 1 and runs through Sept. 30, 2032. The city and SFC will also have the option to extend the agreement for two additional five-year terms, subject to council approval and funding.

The combined management agreement covers Legends Event Center and Travis Fields at Travis Bryan Midtown Park.
The current management agreements were scheduled to end in 2027. Under the new agreement, SFC will receive a combined post-opening fee of $27,000 per month beginning Oct. 1.
Annual increases were considered but not discussed at length between Bryan City Council and Deputy City Manager Hugh Walker. They said increases would be capped at the lesser of 3% or half of the increase in the Consumer Price Index.
SFC will also receive a combined annual gross revenue of $700,000 from the two facilities.
The agreement changes how commercial rights are handled as well. SFC will receive 35% of gross revenue from sponsorships, advertising and naming rights, with the city receiving the remaining 65%.
Walker said the change is intended to give SFC more incentive to secure sponsorships for the facilities.
“It’s impossible to overstate how vital sports tourism is for our community, promoting both our national reputation and our local quality of life,” said Mayor Bobby Gutierrez. “Bryan residents should be proud of how these facilities bring more business to our hotels, restaurants and stores, supporting jobs and generating sales tax that directly benefits our community. We’re thrilled to continue our partnership with SFC and look forward to many more major tournaments, shows and community events at both facilities.”
The local impact
Legends Event Center opened in December 2022 and has drawn more than 930,000 visitors, according to city documents.
For fiscal year 2025-26, the city estimated about $40.1 million in economic impact, more than 114,000 attendees and about 38,500 hotel room nights associated with events at the facility.

Travis Fields opened in February 2022 and includes three synthetic turf fields and eight covered batting cages.
Legends Event Center and Travis Fields are part of Travis Bryan Midtown Park, which also includes Topgolf and D-BAT Aggieland.
One more thing
The new agreement also establishes maintenance and operational standards for both facilities, including requirements for field and facility maintenance, security, event logistics, concessions and alcohol operations.
In a news release, the city said additional park improvements, including the boardwalk and final trail sections, are expected later this year. Midtown Legacy Park is also under construction and is expected to open in late 2026 or early 2027.
