West University Place will offer basketball at its recreation center during the summer.
The gist
West U Parks & Recreation announced May 27 that it will run a pilot program on a trial basis. Beginning June 1, residents will be able to use the racquetball court to play basketball.
Rec center officials said this would not impact racquetball and squash players, as they will still have one court dedicated to each sport.
The following rules apply:
- Participants must be West U residents.
- Rec center members do not pay a fee.
- The non-member fee is $8 a day, per person.
- Guests can play when accompanied by a West U resident.
- Non-resident guests must pay a daily fee of $14.
To use the courts, recreation center members can reserve a court time in advance. The center will also allow walk-ins, which will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, recreation center officials said.
One more thing
The program is a trial run and will end Sept. 30.
