Saba's Grill & Wok and Saba's restaurant are both in the early stages of relocating to new spaces along Braeswood Boulevard.
What's happening?
Officials with the kosher establishments said they are looking to enhance the overall dining experience for customers.
"We've served the Jewish community for 30 years," owner Natalie Cohen said. "This move will allow us to remain in the same shopping center, but with more variety and options."
Saba's Grill & Wok will relocate to the space formerly occupied by Old Hickory Inn BBQ at 5427 S. Braeswood Blvd., which recently moved to Hillcroft Avenue. Cohen said the restaurant plans to remain open during the relocation process, which is slated to take approximately 2-3 months.
The new spot will allow the restaurant to grow its catering efforts, maximize its efficiency, elevate its menu and provide a private dining room, Cohen said.
More information
Once Saba's Grill & Wok is fully settled into the new space, Saba's restaurant will then move to occupy the former Saba Grill location.
"At this time, we felt like the location was not benefiting us, and we wanted to grow to enhance the customer experience," Cohen said. "We wanted to move but still be in this area, so when the time came for Hickory BBQ to relocate, we thought it made perfect sense to move the Saba Grill to that space and Saba's into its old space."
Saba's restaurant is also expected to remain open during the relocation process. Cohen said she expects both new locations to be fully open and operable by sometime this fall.
What they offer
Both concepts are kosher, but provide different menus. Saba's restaurant offers dishes such as fish tacos, pasta, lasagna, sushi and paninis.
On the other hand, Saba's Grill provides Chinese and Israeli cuisine with wok recipes including Kung Pao chicken, Mongolian beef and coconut curry tofu. Options from the grill menu include chicken wings, salads and tacos.
