At an average of 63 new coronavirus patients per day between Nov. 1-7, the Texas Medical Center is seeing some of the lowest numbers of new cases since the pandemic began, the TMC reported in its data dashboard.
That average number of cases is the lowest TMC hospitals have experienced since early July, when case numbers were on average 58 per day from July 5-11. That compares to a peak of 390 daily cases seen on average from Aug. 16-22.
Meanwhile, the TMC has shown that with a decline in new coronavirus patient admissions comes a decline in the number of patients housed in the TMC. As of Nov. 8, the number of patients was 390, comparatively lower than what the TMC reported Oct. 18 at 799 reported coronavirus patients.
Of the 390 coronavirus patients hospitalized, 162 are hooked to ventilators in an intensive care unit, a 48% drop versus the 314 patients treated by TMC hospitals three weeks ago. That number is a significant drop compared to the number of ICU patients being treated in mid-September—600.
