Q&A: Get to know the candidates for League City City Council, Position 2

Why are you running for this position?

As a 45-year resident and community leader in League City, I'm committed to making the city the best place to live and raise a family. I have the governmental and public safety experience to continue this progress and build on the achievements we have earned in past years.

What would your top priorities be if elected?

My top priorities would be to continue building on the 5-year Capital Improvement Plans for public safety, flooding and drainage, traffic and economic development, all while maintaining the lowest possible tax rates for citizens. Continue building a government that works for the people and controls wasteful spending.

What do you see as the greatest challenge for the city, and how will you improve it?

Continuous, fast-paced growth places high demand on city services, including infrastructure. In the past few years, we have implemented new guidelines that shift the responsibilities back to the development process and responsible parties. Continue to approve the no-new-revenue tax rate and maintain a balanced budget.

What should League City’s budget priorities be?

To maintain the lowest possible tax rate while providing the best service to the community and its citizens. Public safety, infrastructure needs, traffic and road projects, and drainage improvements should all be the highest priorities before any special projects or unnecessary spending.

Why are you running for this position?

I decided to run for City Council was because I was tired of seeing the same names on the ballot every election and wanted to encourage more everyday citizens to be a part of their local government. Also to ensure that the flock cameras are removed.

What would your top priorities be if elected?

To make sure we have city council members that will honor the non-binding vote if the people vote no on flock. Also we need to do a better job when it comes to managing growth and ensuring we have the proper infrastructure and drainage to accommodate any new developments.

What do you see as the greatest challenge for the city, and how will you improve it?

I think the drainage issues throughout the town are one of the biggest and most consequential issues facing the citizens of League City. But in short, more digging and less concrete. Going forward drainage needs to be a top priority when considering any new development plans in League City.
