College of the Mainland receives $96K grant to expand teaching pathways

The Houston Teacher Pathways Consortium invites community colleges and universities to build pathways with a focus on strengthening transfer processes, building clear feeder patterns and increasing financial support for aspiring educators, according to the news release.

Students will begin at COM and, after earning an Associate of Arts in teaching, transfer to TWU to complete a bachelor’s degree leading to early childhood through sixth grade teacher certification.

One more thing

The college provides office and classroom space for TWU faculty members to teach transfer students directly on COM’s Texas City campus, and will also coordinate with local school districts to secure residency placements for graduates, according to the news release.
