5 p.m. May 21: Houston's public parks will remain open Memorial Day weekend, but city-owned pools, which typically open for the season during the holiday, will stay closed, Mayor Sylvester Turner said May 21. 3 p.m. May 21: Starting May 26, Texans will be able to begin receiving limited services from Texas Department of Public Safety driver's license offices. The reopening is part of a regionally phased plan announced by Gov. Greg Abbott May 21, which also includes the launch of an online driver's license appointment system for customers across the state to book appointments up to six months in advance.
