Bastrop City Council appoints members of new hotel occupancy tax task force

Bastrop City Council made seven appointments to the newly created hotel occupancy task force at the April 9 council meeting.

Council members Cheryl Lee, Cynthia Meyer, Kevin Plunkett were appointed as council liaisons, and the following community members were also appointed to the task force:

• Debbie Denny
• Lee Harle
• Olga Maystruk
• Irby Morvant

Also of note

Council member Kevin Plunkett was appointed in the place of Mayor Lyle Nelson to the newly created ad hoc executive committee. The committee will address considerations for the proposed regional sports facility in the Bastrop Economic Development Corporation Industrial Park.

The council also voted unanimously to remove Judah Ross from his position on the Planning and Zoning Commission following an executive session "due to operational concerns about group morale and the efficient functioning of [the Planning and Zoning Commission]."

The decision follows online comments by Ross deemed inappropriate by the council.
