The St. David’s Foundation awarded $2.1 million across four Healthy Births, Healthy Communities Rural grants in April tied to Bastrop County families.
Why it matters
The funding is aimed at improving access to maternal health care that reflects families’ language, culture and needs, said Andrew Levack, Senior Program Officer for St. David's Foundation. He noted these families may face limited birth services, transportation barriers and other gaps during pregnancy, postpartum care and early parenting.
A closer lookEfforts include services ranging from midwifery care to doula support, food assistance, grief services and more for local Black, Latino, Indigenous and immigrant families.
