Officials want motorists traveling along Jessica Place in Bastrop to be more wary of their speed, as the Streets and Maintenance Department will install new speed limit signs and new school zone traffic control devices near Bastrop Middle School.
What we know
There will be four new speed limit signs, including:
- Two marked at 20 mph along the residential portion of Jessica Place
- Two marked at the prima facie speed limit along the arterial thoroughfare of Jessica Place
The prima facie speed limit for residential areas in Bastrop is 30 mph, according to city documents.
“Currently, Jessica Place has insufficient speed limit signs and needs the correct speed signage and the [installation] of flashing school zone traffic control devices,” Bastrop Police Chief Vicky Steffanic said in a staff report.
The new school zone traffic control devices will replace existing signs that do not currently have a flashing component, according to city documents.
What else?
The city of Bastrop did not respond to Community Impact's request for an installation timeline.
