After weather-related delays, Scooter’s Coffee is nearing its Bastrop debut. The drive-thru coffee chain will be located in Sendero—a mixed-use development in Bastrop just west of the Burleson Crossing shopping centers.
Bastrop Whataburger demolished ahead of $2.5M rebuild
The Bastrop Whataburger was demolished to make way for a new $2.5 million restaurant expected to open by the end of the year. Crews began demolition of the existing restaurant—which opened in 2001—on July 13. Officials told Community Impact they plan to hold a grand opening celebration, with details expected in December.

Wildlife Rescue of Central Texas is inching closer to opening its first permanent Bastrop facility later this year—a milestone board President Hayley Hudnall said cannot come soon enough as demand climbs. The nonprofit’s home-based rehabilitators have taken in over 200 injured or orphaned wild animals this year, surpassing the roughly 150 animals taken in annually since the organization opened in 2024.
8.75-acre indoor, outdoor sports complex underway in Cedar Creek
A sports complex taking shape in Cedar Creek aims to add year-round space for Bastrop County athletes, recreational players and families when it opens in early 2027. Located near SH 21 and Mount Olive Road, Pitchside will feature 26,000 square feet of indoor turf for soccer and football. The 8.75-acre facility will also include outdoor multi-use fields, camps, leagues for adults and youth, tournaments, and open-field rentals, according to the business’s website.

Bastrop Health Fair returns in August with free wellness resources
Bastrop-area residents can connect with local health agencies and access free wellness resources during the third annual Bastrop County Health Fair in August. The Bastrop Regional Chamber of Commerce will host the event, which will feature information on preventive care, exercise, nutrition and more.
