A new event space at the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort and Spa offers vaulted ceilings and a wall of windows to showcase the scenic views of the Lost Pines. The space can be used to cater weddings, corporate events and other social gatherings.

Owner Richard "RB" Brown and his wife Chris Kelly opened Bastrop’s only coworking space, offering a shared office environment with amenities and opportunities to connect with others.

At nearly 58,000 square feet, the hotel features 114 apartment-style suites, each equipped with a fully furnished kitchen, spa-inspired bathroom and large closet.

The specialty grocery retailer began construction on a 23,349-square-foot, $6 million store within the soon-to-come Burleson Crossing East. Sprouts Farmers Market offers a variety of fresh produce, meat and seafood.

Bastrop County Emergency Food Pantry
Officials held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Feb. 14 for a 9,200-square-foot facility that will double the pantry’s capacity for food storage. The existing pantry at 806 Fayette St., located nearby, will be transformed into a nutrition and education center.

Hannah and Justin Dalton took over the specialty and made-to-order pizzeria in late January following the retirement of its previous owners, Tom and Lori Dickey. Hannah Dalton said guests can expect the same quality of food and service, with more options coming soon.

The Austin-based burger stand is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. P. Terry's offers burgers and fries produced with all-natural ingredients. The eatery opened its only Bastrop location in October 2023.

The auto insurance provider celebrated its 15th anniversary in late January. Ai United Insurance also offers coverage for homeowners, renters, small business owners and more.

Construction on the tanning salon is expected to begin this summer and end in November, according to a Feb. 8 filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. Palm Beach Tan will be located in Burleson Crossing.

Mary Jayne Buckingham, owner and baker of Bastrop’s The Cutie Pie Wagon and known as The Pie Queen for her award-winning pies, closed her kiosk to take a break while cooking up a new business model to allow her more flexibility.

Jaime Astorga opened his coffee shop inside Community Gardens in the summer of 2024, coinciding with the grand opening of his mother Sylvia Barragan’s new restaurant, Chapala Fiestas, in the former Heroes restaurant space. Astrogra said he plans to open a new Bastrop Mr. Brew in the future with more options, including a drive-thru.

Two businesses featuring antique and vintage items, including antique furniture, jewelry, candles and porcelain, opened in a shared space on Smithville’s Main Street. Twig is owned by Sara Hickman and operates in the loft area, while Panama Rose fills the main floor and is owned by Anne Dobson.
