Following the implementation of CapRemap and the restructuring of Austin-area bus routes in June 2018, Capital Metro will be making some additional adjustments to bus services this June. Todd Hemingson, Capital Metro executive vice president of planning and development, said most changes will be minor schedule adjustments to improve on-time arrival rates of buses on 18 routes. Schedule changes will be put in effect on routes 1, 7, 10, 17, 18, 20, 32, 135, 142, 300, 345, 350, 392, 481, 801, 935, 980 and 987. One of the larger changes taking place in June will be related to the under-construction Westgate Transit Center in South Austin. Scheduled to open in early June, the center will be a hub for six bus routes: 30, 300, 311, 315, 318 and 803. Westgate Transit Center will be located below Ben White Boulevard between Pack Saddle Pass and Manchaca Road near the Westgate Shopping Center. The new transit center will include parking for 200 vehicles and dedicated space for bikes and car-shares, according to a presentation to the Capital Metro board of directors March 25. Another service change will expand the pickup zone in the Manor area, Hemingson said. Capital Metro previously replaced Route 470 with a pickup service that serves the city of Manor and other unincorporated eastern Travis County areas. Other seasonal changes to routes associated with the University of Texas and E-Bus routes will take place due to expected lower ridership in the summer months, Hemingson said. The Capital Metro board of directors approved the service changes at its March 25 meeting.
