Transportation updates

1. Fischer Store Road bridge


Construction has begun on a permanent replacement bridge on Fischer Store Road over the Blanco River. Dan Williams Co. will handle replacement of the bridge.

2. Post Road bridge


Hays County plans to construct a temporary bridge on Post Road over the Blanco River, after the two-lane crossing was destroyed during the Memorial Day weekend floods. Bowman Consulting was surveying the site of the bridge, between San Marcos and Kyle, in early October.

3. Aquarena Springs Drive overpass


TxDOT has completed utilities and storm sewer work within the project area, which includes the portion of Aquarena Springs Drive from Thorpe Lane to Charles Austin Drive in San Marcos. The remaining work includes adding sidewalks, paving and widening the street to accommodate the planned four-lane overpass and two-lane access roads in each direction.

4. Marketplace Avenue extension


A formal ground breaking was held Oct. 7 to mark the start of construction on the Marketplace Avenue extension, which will connect the road to Burleson Street from its current end at City Lights Drive. The project is part of the city’s 2013 road bond program.

5. FM 967 improvements


TxDOT has completed widening of the portion of FM 967 from Cole Springs Road to FM 1626 in Buda. Construction of sidewalks and curb and gutter features have also been completed. Remaining work includes construction of driveway tie-ins as well as final paving and striping.
