West Dittmar Road is open to through traffic from Loganberry Drive to South Congress Avenue starting Feb. 13.
City of Austin workers completed road improvements after erosion damaged a bank of South Boggy Creek in 2012. The road has been closed since April of that year.
"It's been a long-awaited process and we're glad to be able to improve access to the neighborhood," city spokeswoman Alexa Muraida said.
In a Feb. 13 statement, the city's Public Works Department listed the area's improvements as:
- A limestone stacked wall for stream bank stabilization along South Boggy Creek
- Drainage maintenance and improvements
- Concrete traffic railing for stability
- Guardrail installation for safety
- Overgrown vegetation removed
- Pavement repairs completed
- Newly pavement markings installed
