This year, 67 Austin ISD schools were awarded a total of 187 distinction designations by the Texas Education Agency under the State Accountability System. The seven areas of designation include reading/English language arts, mathematics, science, social studies: top 25 percent; student progress: top 25 percent; closing performance gaps; and post-secondary readiness.
AISD Superintendent Paul Cruz expressed his gratitude for the teachers and principals at the distinguished schools at a board of trustees meeting Dec. 19.
"It means so much to me to have a group of leaders who care so much about our kids," Cruz said. "I am so proud of all of you for your hard work, commitment and determination. We are great because of you and your leadership."
